Bundling and strapping with steel straps have for many years been an extremely effective way of confirming goods. The high breaking strength and low stretch, ensures extremely tight bundling or strapping. This may be required especially in heavy duty applications.
Contimeta complies with high quality standards regarding breaking strength, stretch, suppleness and flatness of the steel strip. The limitations of steel straps lies in its low stretch (with breakage). This reduces the ability to absorb an impact load. With bundling or strapping where a loss in volume eventually takes place (with wood) steel strap very quickly loses the original tension because of its limited stretch. When an extremely large traction is required or with extremely hot products, steel strap is the best solution.

This cold rolled steel strap with a low carbon level has rounded sides and is suitable for use in both manual equipment, semi and fully automatic steel strapping machines. It has a high tensile strength (750-850 N/mm2) and stretch (6-8%) due to an extra heat treatment before being cut. Depending on the required corrosion protection, this steel strapping is available in a blue finish, black or zinc coated, or electrolytic galvanized.
Available widths: 13, 16, 19, 25 and 32 mm.
Thickness: 0,4 to 1 mm.
This steel strap is also cold rolled and is characterized by a higher tensile strength (900-1000 N/mm2) and stretch (ca. 12%). It has rounded sides and is suitable for manual equipment and semi and fully automatic steel strapping machines. This quality is suitable for applications with high impact loads and sharp package edges adding extra strain to the strapping. Depending on the required corrosion protection, this steel strapping is available in a blue finish, black or zinc coated.
Available widths: 13, 16, 19, 25, and 32 mm.
Thickness: 0,5 to 1 mm.
"Lashing" steel strapping is a special type of Megaband. This is used when hoisting and/or confirming a heavy load during shipping by sea or transport by train, for example steel rolls or wood. This steel strapping is subjected to strict quality requirements during production, according to DIN/ISO 9001, and provided with a special control mark.
This steel strap has an even higher stretch (about 18%), that also kicks in at lower loads, making it extremely suitable for special applications in the steel industry.

Thickness: 0.63 to 1.12 mm.
Wafer winding (SW), also called European winding. The core diameter depends on the width and thickness of the steel strapping, 330 mm or 406 mm. The outer diameter is about 660 mm. The weight of a roll of wafer winding is about 25 kg.
Package winding (PW), also called American winding. This has a steel inner core of 406 mm. The outer diameter is ca. 600 mm and the roll width ca. 60 mm. The weight of a roll of package winding is ca. 45-50 kg.
Jumbo rolls steel strap has a roll weight varying from 250 to 500 kg and a roll width of 170 mm. The inner diameter is 406 mm and the outer diameter ca. 760 mm.
Steel strap is supplied on disposable wooden pallets with a total weight of ca. 550 kg. and fitted with a cardboard or plastic cover indicating the size, quality and article number.
